Bedding company Boll & Branch said it is the first retail location to install Far-UVC light sanitizing technology.
SUMMIT, N.J. – Ethically-sourced bedding company Boll & Branch has installed new light technology from Healthe Inc. in two of its retail locations to increase protections for customers and employees against the spread of harmful pathogens and viruses.
Sanitation technology company Healthe said it has developed solutions that use UVC and Far-UVC 222 light to sanitize indoor environments in real-time, by deactivating air and surface contaminants with devices that can be safely operated in occupied spaces.
“The health and safety of our customers and our community is a top priority for us, and we’re proud to implement Healthe’s advanced sanitizing technology in our retail stores to ensure just that,” said Scott Tannen, CEO and founder of Boll & Branch. “We make decisions with people and the common good in mind. This technology will allow our customers to shop and test our product safely, and with the utmost peace of mind.”
Tannen said that Boll & Branch is the first retail space in the country to install Far-UVC technology to sanitize its in-store mattresses. The device is a ceiling light that combines general illumination with Far-UVC 222 sanitizing light to clean air and surfaces in real-time.
A recent study by researchers at Columbia University concluded that far-UVC light efficiently kills pathogens potentially without harm to exposed human tissues. Morris said this joins a growing library of evidence, including independent research backed by many peer-reviewed scientific and medical journals, which demonstrates that Far-UVC light is effective at inactivating viral particles in the air and on surfaces and is safe for use in indoor environments.
The new sanitation technology is currently being used at Boll & Branch’s newly-opened stores in Greenwich, Conn., and Boca Raton, Fla.
