TORONTO – QuanU, a vertically integrated furniture manufacturer and major retail presence in China, will open its first location in Canada on July 25, according to a report from Retail Insider.
The 35-year-old QuanU, which operates more than 5,000 stores in China, hopes to have 10 to 15 Canadian stores by next year’s end, depending on how the COVID-19 situation plays out. Its first will be in the Toronto-area shopping center Kennedy Commons Plaza.
A spokesperson for QuanU Furniture Canada said in the report that the global COVID-19 pandemic had delayed the company’s expansion plans, which originally called for an initial Canadian launch of three stores. A second store, however, is likely to open in by year’s end.
Three stores slated for Canada are now on hold, although the locale for a second store will likely be downtown Toronto.
QuanU, founded in 1986, is part of Quanyou Furniture Co. Ltd., which designs, develops, manufactures and markets a broad line that includes solid wood furniture, mattresses, couches, soft beds, customized furniture and engineering furniture.
