SHANGHAI – The 46th edition of the China International Furniture Fair will take place from Sept. 7-11 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center here.
The event will showcase new and inline product from more than 1,000 industry brands in case goods, upholstery, office furniture and bedding. Spread over 4 million square feet of show space in eight main halls, the show also will include outdoor and leisure furniture as well as home textiles, commercial furniture and woodworking and machinery.
In addition, the popular Design Hall is being expanded into two new venues in Hall 3 and Hall 5.1 of the exhibition center, offering buyers a glimpse of modern designs and other lifestyle trends. Hall 4.1 will focus on contemporary design.
Bearing the theme “Connecting the World” the Shanghai show aims to create a strong “integration between the high level Chinese domestic market and international markets, supporting and helping companies to address a rapidly evolving situation. Aware of the current difficulties, CIFF is, in fact, collaborating with several partners to sufficiently support both the offline and online business of its exhibitors and buyers.”
For example, it is using the B2B Giga Cloud Logistics trading platform to help connect exporters and buyers from around the world.
The show follows the 45th edition of CIFF, which was postponed from March until July. That event drew more than 143,000 visitors, according to the show organizer.

I’m Tom Russell and have worked at Furniture/Today since August 2003. Since then, I have covered the international side of the business from a logistics and sourcing standpoint. Since then, I also have visited several furniture trade shows and manufacturing plants in Asia, which has helped me gain perspective about the industry in that part of the world. As I continue covering the import side of the business, I look forward to building on that knowledge base through conversations with industry officials and future overseas plant tours. From time to time, I will file news and other industry perspectives online and, as always, welcome your response to these Web postings.
