PHOENIX – Gary Fazio has held some impressive positions in his long home furnishings career: CEO of Simmons, CEO of Serta Simmons Bedding, CEO of Mattress Firm, and CEO of Art Van Furniture, among others.
But now he adds a new title to his long resume: Celebrity bingo caller for The Seena Magowitz Foundation’s virtual Bingo Night, set for Oct. 21. The event starts at 4 p.m. Pacific Time, 6 p.m. Central Time and 7 p.m. Eastern Time.
“I haven’t played bingo since I was in my teens,” said Fazio. “We want people interested in the cause of pancreatic cancer, so let’s do something a little different.”
While the game may be a bit unfamiliar to Fazio, being “on air” is not. He started his career as a disc-jockey for a commercial Top 40 station at just 17. Now, he’ll be dusting off that broadcasting experience for these special events.
“Did you ever know Gary to not do something with 100% effort?” asked foundation founder Roger Magowitz. “We’re so excited to have him as the host of our first bingo night. The foundation has so many ties to the mattress industry, and Gary is truly a household name in that realm.”
The event will raise funds for pancreatic cancer research.
Each winner will receive a package with a customizable PureCare bedding set with a 100% Tencel sheet set, two Sub-0 SoftCell Chill Pillows, and two DreamFit Comfort Deluxe Pillows. The package, valued at more than $1,300, also includes a lightweight dry-fit jacket with an embroidered Seena Magowitz emblem.
One raffle prize winner will receive a bottle of Ellman Family Vineyards wine and two wine glasses, and four others will win $25 gift cards.
Bingo cards are $20 per card, five for $90 or 13 for $200. Tickets are tax-deductible. All the proceeds are going toward The Seena Magowitz Foundation’s goal: Funding pancreatic research and clinical trials. Participants can purchase their cards here: www.seenamagowitzfoundation.org/bingo. Every card purchased is a ticket into the virtual zoom raffle.
This is the first of a series of bingo game nights. The Magowitz virtual events all lead up to the foundation’s “Celebration of Hope” virtual event in December. For a complete schedule of events, visit www.seenamagowitzfoundation.org/annual-celebration-of-hope.
