Families can rent this nursery set from Inhabitr for $97 a month for a 12-month rental.
CHICAGO – Furniture rental company Inhabitr has partnered with BabyQuip to offer nursery furniture to families in the Washington D.C. and Chicago areas, with plans to expand to additional cities in the coming months.
“Families want to rent baby furniture as it costs a lot of money to buy for a short period of time and also takes up a lot of storage space,” said Ankur Agrawal, Inhabitr founder and CEO, “BabyQuip brings a trusted brand and significant expertise in the baby gear category to Inhabitr’s customers. We are really excited to add the product and offering to our customers.”
Agrawal said studies show that many Millennial parents only expect to have one child, are on the move or like the flexibility of renting and trying rather than buying.
Inhabitr rents furniture, decor and artwork in 12 cities across the U.S. BabyQuip, which was founded in 2016, rents baby furniture to families on the go. According to Agrawal, with this partnership, the companies will be the first to rent, at scale, baby furniture using a subscription model for parents to rent the items for the period of time that they need it. Once the baby outgrows the infant furniture, new age-appropriate furniture can be rented.
The BabyQuip offering on Inhabitr includes full-size cribs, changing tables and other items. BabyQuip also will send out an expert to assemble and set up the rental furniture. For an additional concierge fee, the expert can meet with the parents and help set up the nursery, which is an especially valuable service for first-time parents.
“Inhabitr is leading the industry with its innovative furniture rental services and its reach in more than 12 cities,” said Fran Maier, BabyQuip, founder and CEO. “We know families will love the convenience and service of having a full set of baby furniture and gear delivered and set up in their new homes.”
Inhabitr partners with leading furniture manufacturers, local retail stores and online brands to source products. In addition, Inhabitr works with designers for added curation so that all furniture and décor items look and work well together.
