PHOENIX – The Seena Magowitz Foundation is following up on a successful virtual bingo night fundraiser in October with a second virtual bingo event, this one set for 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 8 p.m.
Bedding veteran Gary Fazio, the former CEO of Serta Simmons Bedding, will once again host the event, which will raise funds for pancreatic cancer research.
Rize, a supplier of bedding support products, is the sponsor of the event. “We are so proud to offer our support to this event,” said David Jaffe, CEO of Rize. “The foundation has an incredible goal, and the whole team here at Rize wishes them great success.”
The foundation’s first event last month drew more than 80 supporters, patients and medical staff to participate.
It was a day full of good news for Craig Hellmers, who has battled pancreatic cancer for more than two years. He found out he was cancer-free and won the Grand Raffle Prize Mattress in the same day.
“Couldn’t imagine the day getting better, but it did,” said his wife, Tricia. “Lucky card 75 won the grand prize of a beautiful Nectar sleep mattress.”
At the foundation’s event on Nov. 18, players will again have the opportunity to win a mattress. This time, it’s a Bliss in a Box Bed donated by Eclipse International, which retails for more than $1,500. The winner can choose the preferred size mattress and have it shipped to their home. Every card purchased is a ticket into the virtual Zoom raffle.
Another raffle prize is the Customatic Premium Adjustable Galaxy Bed Base. The winner can choose the preferred size, with a value of up to $998, and have it shipped to their home.
Each bingo winner will receive a package with a customizable PureCare bedding set with a 100% Tencel Sheet set, two Sub-0 SoftCell Chill Pillows and two DreamFit Comfort Deluxe Pillows. The package also includes a lightweight dry-fit jacket with an embroidered Seena Magowitz emblem. The package is valued at more than $1,300.
The night will feature several raffle prizes. Six players will win $25 gift cards. Three more will win U-bud wireless Bluetooth earbuds, valued at $79. And one raffle prize winner will receive a bottle of Ellman Family Vineyards wine (valued at $75) and two wine glasses.
Bingo cards are $20 per card, five for $90 or 13 for $200. Tickets are tax-deductible. All the proceeds go toward the Seena Magowitz Foundation for funding pancreatic research and clinical trials. Participants can purchase their cards online.
The foundation’s Celebration of Hope virtual event, the highlight of the series of events held this fall, is set for December.
“It is very humbling for the Seena Magowitz Foundation to be at the forefront of fighting this disease,” said Roger Magowitz, who started the foundation in honor of his mother, Seena, who died of pancreatic cancer in 2001.
The Seena Magowitz Foundation is known as “The Face and Voice of Pancreatic Cancer.” It works to provide awareness for the disease and to raise funding for research.
