LAS VEGAS – Full line case goods resource Martin Svensson Home said it will not be open during the summer Las Vegas Market, but that it instead will offer a virtual platform where dealers can interact with company officials and view new product.
“After polling many of our dealers across a broad swath of territories, we decided that it was best to not participate in the Las Vegas Market beginning late this month,” said John Sandberg, president and CEO. “Our highest priority is the health and safety of our customers, employees and their families.”
The Las Vegas Market is important to Martin Svensson Home as it is where the company typically launches its newest product across multiple categories including bedroom, dining room, home entertainment and occasional furniture. The virtual format, the company said, will allow customers access to new items and inline goods that can be shipped quickly.
“We are excited to be able to show our customers our latest introductions and inline products in a new format,” said Scott Sandberg, vice president, sales. “We have had a great response so far, and our appointment times are filling up fast.”
I’m Tom Russell and have worked at Furniture/Today since August 2003. Since then, I have covered the international side of the business from a logistics and sourcing standpoint. Since then, I also have visited several furniture trade shows and manufacturing plants in Asia, which has helped me gain perspective about the industry in that part of the world. As I continue covering the import side of the business, I look forward to building on that knowledge base through conversations with industry officials and future overseas plant tours. From time to time, I will file news and other industry perspectives online and, as always, welcome your response to these Web postings.
