KEENE, N.H. – Early learning and youth furniture manufacturer Whitney Brothers has received a 2020 New Product Gold Award from Spaces4Learning for its biophilia-inspired Nature View collection.
This is considered one of the most widely respected awards for products for educational markets and educational furniture that also can be used in residential settings. A panel of industry judges selected both the platinum and gold winners.
The award program by Spaces4Learning honors outstanding product development achievements of manufacturers and suppliers whose products or services enhance the learning environment. The company has received two of the awards over the past four years.
The Nature View Collection includes modular, clean-lined and curved cabinets that have cushioned seating as well as storage functionality and room dividers that connect without plastic connectors. There is also a light table with privacy and social distancing features.
The collection is made with solid maple or birch plywood and has a clear acrylic panel imprinted with a colorful field of wildflowers scene aimed to bring a sense of nature indoors, “while providing maximum visibility and supervision of children. The collection was conceived as an inviting, flexible landscape that could help foster a child’s deep connection to their learning environment and set the trajectory of their future learning outcomes.”
“This has been a difficult time for education institutions, but the manufacturers and suppliers that serve this sector have really stepped up with great solutions to help ease the burden for schools, colleges and universities facing the challenges of reopening or remaining open amid the COVID-19 pandemic,” said David Nagel, editorial director of Spaces4Learning. “Spaces4Learning congratulates all of our winners on their important contributions.”
“Biophilic design has been around longer than the Hanging Gardens of Babylon in 6th century BC, yet there’s never been any biophilia-inspired classroom furniture for children,” said Mike Jablonski, President of Whitney Brothers. “We believe the scientifically proven benefits of biophilia are most important for our littlest learners, and that’s what inspired us to create the Nature View Collection. Our thanks to the Spaces4Learning judges for acknowledging the design originality and innovation this collection and our brand embodies.”
